How it works

Six simple steps

Nothing about how you shop has to change. The community impact is built into the way the card already works.

01

Join your city

Sign up for the HIT Card through your city's official program and become part of the local movement.

02

Spend on everyday needs

Use the HIT Card anywhere debit and credit are accepted. Nothing about how you shop has to change.

03

Generate program revenue

A portion of program revenue from everyday card activity is allocated for the participating city.

04

Build the city impact fund

City participation, cardholder use, merchants, and sponsors help build a local impact pool.

05

Fund local priorities

Funds can support projects such as parks, mobility, youth programs, neighborhood improvements, and local commerce.

06

Report results

Impact is communicated back to the community so residents can see what participation is helping build.

Questions

Good to know

What is the HIT Card?
The HIT Card is a community impact Visa debit card. A portion of the interchange revenue generated when you spend is directed back toward your participating city to help fund local projects.
Does it cost me anything extra to use?
No. You use the card the way you would any debit or credit card. The community contribution comes from interchange revenue on the payment network, not from added fees on your purchases.
Who decides where the money goes?
Local stewards in each participating city decide which community projects to fund, and those decisions are made transparently and accountably to the community.
Are the dollar figures on this site real?
The figures shown are illustrative models of how the card economy can work as cities and cardholders grow. They are projections to explain the model, not records of past performance or guarantees.
Which cities can join?
Fort Worth, Texas is the first pilot city. Additional cities across Texas, Tennessee, and Florida are planned. You can register interest to bring the HIT Card to your city.
